With the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol and the implementation of the EU's Energy Efficiency Action Plan, the European Union has committed itself to a drastic reduction of both energy consumption and CO2 emissions. One of the key points is to reduce energy consumption by 20% by the year 2020. In order to realize this energy efficiency potential, Europe needs more than double its current "x" outputs. It is necessary that in the political arena agreements are made and that the behavioral patterns of our society change, so that we begin to use energy in a more efficient way.
